The sun beat down on Icahn Stadium on Randall’s Island in NYC on Saturday July 11 for the USATF Club Nationals Track and Field Championships. The meet is special because it is a team competition with the scores announced after each event so teams know what their athletes need to do in the next event to move up in the standings. Icahn is also special because all events can be watched from the stands by everyone. All the throwing events take place within the stadium. Most athletes compete in multiple events to help their team scores. Many ran themselves ragged.
GBTC’s Lisa Wilson and Andre Reid scored in all the throws and distance runners ran in their open events and in relays. Wilson and Reid won the meets MVP awards.
The women placed 4th and the men 5th but the combined score placed the team in 4th.
